Anonymous asked: i really don't understand the love for the king's speech. i thought king's speech was so intellectually lacking. everything was so gimmicky, directing was too twee for the sake of being different, whitewashed history etc. colin is a great actor but there's only so much you can do with a boring one dimensional character. colin wouldn't even be on top 5 performance of 2010 so it's too bad he will win the oscar.

I don’t know how to respond to this except that I wholeheartedly disagree. I loved the directing. I understand qualms with the whitewashing and the politics that went into making the film — for the Oscar race, since it is clear bait but I don’t understand thinking that King George VI was one dimensional… And he wouldn’t be in your top five? 

I nevereverever get answers back when I ask anons questions but I’m genuinely curious: what films did you love this year that you think deserve the Oscar (same for best actor)?
